MariWeb™ Electronic Chart System [ECS] and Human Machine Interface [HMI]

Electronic Chart System [ECS]

The MariWeb™ Electronic Chart System [ECS] uses an Internet browser as a Graphical User Interface [GUI] to display the charts and the AIS targets using the approved IMO symbology as applicable for shore side networks. More than one display / window can be opened at one time providing significant flexibility.

The MariWeb™ ECS is one component of the MariWeb™ Human Machine Interface [HMI]. The ECS allows the setting up of polygons that can be defined as inclusion or exclusion alert areas for the MariWeb™ Event Manager [MEM].  Waypoints can be set up between any two points.

Polygons and waypoint alerts can be used to alert users of the MariWeb™ systems of (amongst many other alerts generated by the MEM):

  • Vessels entering a defined area
  • Leaving a defined area
  • Vessels exceeding a specific draft entering a shallow area
  • Actual Time of Arrival [ATA] and Actual Time of Departure [ATD]
  • Arrival at a berth and departure from a berth

Alerts can be either on screen alerts or sent via email, GSM (mobile phone) or AIS to addressed individuals or groups.

Human Machine Interface [HMI]

The MariWeb™ HMI provides the interface to the MariWeb™ system excluding the ECS. The HMI provides the ability to:

  • Access vessel data
  • Configure the ECS
  • View vessel data
  • Send and receive AIS Safety Related Messages [SRM]
  • Configure the MariWeb™ system
  • Access all extended MariWeb™ modules such as the MEM, MCS, MAS and NMS

The HMI uses an Internet browser as the Graphical User Interface [GUI] and each new data screen opens in a new window allowing a number of physical screens to be part of the same operator position with total flexibility.  The operator could for instance have the ECS on one screen and the detail of selected vessels displayed on the other.
