Archive Server
The MariWeb™
Archive Server [MAS] stores all of the AIS data received by the AIS
network in RAW and parsed format ensuring that an accurate set of data
is available and that online searches of all historical data is
possible. The searches are executed using the Human
Machine Interface [HMI].
All of the archived AIS data can be stored or the
incoming AIS data stream sampled on an ITU1371-3 message type basis to
reduce the size of the storage required. Given the cost of memory, the
need to sample AIS data is reduced and continues to diminish.
More than 100TB of data can be stored within an archive server
suite with all archived AIS data being available on line. A data
cataloging system
ensures that data searches of a large AIS database is executed within
acceptable time constraints.
A sanity check is completed on each search indicating to the operator executing the search ensuring that queries that consume significant resources and long periods of time are limited to what is required rather than executed by mistake.
