Chart Server
MariWeb™
has a number of chart servers. These include:
- MariWeb™ proprietary chart server (used for small systems only)
- OpenGIS chart server
- Google Map
- S63 capable third party chart server
- Third party ECDIS systems
The chart server implemented on any particular system is dependent on
the customers requirements. IMIS Global Limited would normally
recommend the OpenGIS chart server that is able to display vector and
raster charts in the WGS84 standard. Vector formats include GML, S57
and ESRI and raster formats include GeoTIFF, JPG and GIF.
The OpenGIS chart server serves charts according to the area being
viewed allowing for an area to be selected and for the user to zoom in
and out of the selected area. Where a raster chart is used, the
resolution is limited by the pixilation of the raster chart and the
accuracy cannot be any better than the original paper chart or other
data from which the raster image was generated.
Vector charts (S57) have an accuracy dependent on when the chart data
was captured and with the accuracy this S57 data was captured.
The MariWeb™
OpenGIS chart server requires un-encrypted S57 charts.
These can be
updated at any time ensuring that the most accurate GIS information is
available at any time to the user of the MariWeb™
system.
Where S63 charts are required, a third party chart server is integrated and delivered along with the MariWeb™ system.
