IMIS and Stone Three arranged a one-day conference on the VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) in Somerset West, Cape Town, South Africa, followed by the IALA WG3 Intersessional meeting for the remainder of the week.
VDES is the next generation of AIS-based digital maritime communications, providing significantly increased bandwidth for ship-to-shore and shore-to-ship data exchange. The conference brought together maritime authorities, technology developers and regulators to discuss the VDES deployment roadmap. IMIS is committed to integrating VDES support into future MariWeb releases.
