The IMIS paper titled VHF Data Exchange System: A maritime communications technology for information sharing was presented at the e-Navigation Underway conference, focused on the benefits of VDES as the next generation of AIS-based digital maritime communications.
VDES extends AIS capabilities by providing a higher-bandwidth, bidirectional digital communication channel between ships and shore, enabling richer data exchange for e-navigation services. e-Navigation Underway Asia brings together maritime administrations, technology providers and academics to advance the IMO e-navigation strategy.
